Our Story
Founded in 1981 by Betty and Gene Whitehead, B&G Transportation began its journey as a school bus company in Hobbs, New Mexico. Initially, the company's focus was on providing transportation services to students within the Hobbs school district, as well as facilitating various athletic and student activities within the region.
In the year 2000, the reins of ownership and operations were passed on to Mike Whitehead, the son of Betty and Gene Whitehead, and his wife, Molly Whitehead. Eager to expand beyond the confines of Hobbs, Mike and Molly embarked on a new venture, giving rise to M&M Tours in 2001. This marked the inception of the first sister company to B&G. M&M Tours specialized in motor coach services and gained distinction as the pioneer in offering tours originating from Hobbs to coveted destinations such as the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, Las Vegas, Disneyland, and various other locales across the continental United States.
Our Journey
On December 31st, 2017, Luisa Loredo-Ruiz, a stalwart employee of B&G Transportation since 1988, ascended to the role of partner alongside the Whitehead family. Subsequently, on January 1st, 2020, B&G Transportation Inc. and M&M Tours were formally acquired by Luisa and James G. Ruiz. Preserving the ethos of being a family-driven small business, their children - Matthew, Nicole, and Jami - joined the ranks of the company and currently hold positions as officers, ensuring the continued success and legacy of the enterprise.
